Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is described as a “high-stake
chess game, one where everyone is intently watching how- or, if another person
is going to move”. Similarly individual chess pieces with characters images
pasted on top is seen throughout the movie been observed by non-other than
George Smiley himself. This is so as if to reveal how he is totaling out every
move of the agents involved. The medium chosen for this magazine cover was
acrylic paint because the stills from the movie remind the audience of an oil
painting using dark and cool colours.
